These are not the same kind of product
Profound is a monitoring platform. You give it a set of prompts, it watches how the models answer them over time, and it tells you when something moves. That is genuinely useful if AI visibility is somebody's actual job and they are going to look at the numbers every week.
Worth Citing is an audit. You run it, you find out whether the models name you and what your site is doing wrong, and you get a list of fixes in the order worth doing them. Then you go and fix things. There is no dashboard to keep checking, because most people do not check it.
So the real question is not which tool is better. It is whether you need a monitor or a diagnosis. If you already know you have a problem and want to know what to do about it, a $99 monthly subscription to watch the problem is an odd first purchase.
Where Profound is genuinely ahead
Profound tracks 50 prompts on its entry plan and 100 on Growth, continuously. Worth Citing does not do that at all. It also has the enterprise machinery that large companies need, including SSO, SOC 2, and multiple seats, and none of that exists in Worth Citing.
One thing worth knowing before you buy: Profound's $99 Starter plan tracks ChatGPT and nothing else. If you want Perplexity or Gemini in the picture you are on the $399 plan. Worth Citing queries ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini on the free tier.
Where Worth Citing is ahead
Price and time to an answer. You can have a real report in about three minutes without entering a card, and the paid plan is $29 a month with no cap on how often you re-run it. The output is also different in kind: Profound tells you where you rank, and Worth Citing tells you what to change.
Pick Profound if
- AI visibility is somebody's job and they will look at it weekly
- You need continuous tracking and alerting, not a snapshot
- You want dozens of prompts watched over time
- You need SSO, SOC 2, or multiple seats
Pick Worth Citing if
- You want to know where you stand right now and what to fix
- You are not ready to spend $99 a month to watch a problem
- You want Claude and Gemini answers without upgrading
- You want a prioritized fix list rather than a metric
Common questions
Is Worth Citing a Profound alternative?
Only if what you actually wanted was an audit. If you need continuous monitoring and alerting, Worth Citing will not replace Profound and we would rather say so now than take your money.
Does Worth Citing track my visibility over time?
The Pro plan keeps your audit history, so you can re-run an audit and compare it to the last one. There is no daily tracking and no alerting. If that is what you need, buy a monitoring tool.
Which one is cheaper?
Worth Citing. The free tier gives you one audit a month with no card, and Pro is $29 a month with unlimited audits. Profound starts at $99 a month on annual billing.
Can I use both?
Yes, and some people should. Run a Worth Citing audit to find out what to fix, fix it, then put a monitoring tool on top if you need to watch it long term.
